This kinetic model of matter (gases) model can be used to explain and predict the physical properties and changes of matter at the molecular level in relation to heat or thermal energy transfer.

Description

This simulation shows up to a maximum of 100 air molecules in random motion as suggested by the kinetic theory of gases.

The air molecules after hitting the 4 walls, rebounce back with no energy loss.

The collisions among any 2 air molecules are also computed with perfectly elastic collisions and rebounce back with no energy loss.

Controls

Use the first control combo box to vary the simulation such as number of air moelcules.

The second combo box to vary temperature, show/hide air molecules and velocities.

The air molecules velocity and direction is completely random to mimic real life.

Double-Click on the air molecule to visualize the path of the motion and double-click any air molecules to hide its path.

Reset Button will put the simulation back to its default state.
